RE-CONSTRUCTION OF VIADUCT AT ST. ELMO POINT

The originalviaduct constructed in the early 20th century was destroyed during World War II.

The original bridge was built as a two span bridge.

A bridge spanning the entire opening through the breakwater was proposed,  ensuring that the resulting aesthetics portrayed an entrance to Malta's Great Grand Harbour that whilst blending in to it's historical surroundings was bold and contemporary.

An elegant arched Vierendeel was the result.
